Our guided motorcycle tours aim to provide you with an amazing ride in one of the most unique islands in the world. In an effort to make your experience with Island Biker a truly memorable one, we have collected a list of frequently asked questions, which we hope will help prepare you for your ultimate ride in paradise! Q. Do I need to be an experienced rider? All riders will be expected to show that they are capable and in control of riding a Harley Davidson. If, for whatever reason, a rider is perceived as being inexperienced and a danger to themselves and the rest of the group they will not be allowed to ride. If this is the case you will be offered the chance to go on the ride as a passenger at a reduced cost. Q. How old do I need to be? We try not to be ageist but you will need to be at least 21 years old to ride with us. Q. Do I need a local driving license? Yes, a local license or an international driving license for large bore motorcycles is required. Island Biker is able to assist in obtaining a local driving license, which will be valid for the length of your stay in Bali. We need one day’s notice to do this and it will cost approximately US$40. You will be required to visit the local police station with us to obtain this license. Q. Do I need to wear a helmet? Yes, Indonesian law demands that all riders wear a crash helmet. We do provide quality lids for each rider, but we recommend that you bring your own if possible for comfort and size. Q. Should I bring wet weather gear? Yes, just in case! Some of our tours will take you through mountains and high altitudes where there is always the possibility of rain. However, in Bali tropical rain storms tend to be very heavy and very intense but not long lasting. If the rain becomes too heavy to ride in, we will stop and wait for it to pass. Island Biker also provides wet weather gear for you to use if you don’t have your own. Q. What bikes can I choose from? We have a selection of well maintained Harley Davidson motorcycles. There is limited availability, so the more notice you give us the greater the chance you will be riding on the dream bike of your choice. Q. Is insurance included? The bikes are insured for damage. In the unfortunate event of an accident you will be expected to cover the first IDR 1,000,000 (approx. US$110) of repairs. Personal insurance is not provided and we strongly recommend that all riders are covered. Island Biker will not be held responsible for costs incurred as a result of an accident. Q. What is included in the tour? Island Biker offer full and half day tours. Included in the price are the rental of the Harley Davidson of your choice (subject to availability), petrol, light refreshments, lunch or light snacks depending on the length of the ride and of course, the professional tour guides. Q. How long are the tours? Each tour is different but on average, a half day tour will be 3 – 4 hours of riding and a full day tour will be 5 - 7 hours in the saddle. Distances will typically range from 120kms to 250kms. Q. Is there a support vehicle? Yes, a support vehicle will be available on certain tours, which can carry spare clothes and wet weather gear. Q. How much notice do I have to give to book a tour? We understand that most riders will be on some sort of travel itinerary (and often with their families) and a ride with Island Biker may not have been included in the original plan. This means that most of our tours are booked at the last minute, however, we would prefer to have at least 24 hours notice to be able to cater to specific needs and requirements. To arrange for a custom tour we will need 4 - 7 days notice. Q. Can I ride with a passenger? Yes you can. Passengers will be charged a reduced fee. Q. I am on my own. I can't ride a motorcycle but want to come on a tour as a passenger. Can you arrange this? Yes we can. Prices quoted on this website for passengers assume that rider and passenger go on a tour as a pair. If you come on your own as a passenger (with no rider) we can arrange a rider for you. You will be charged full price (with discount). Q. How do I get to Island Biker from my hotel or villa? When you make your tour booking your accommodation details will be recorded and we will send a car and driver to collect you 1 hour before the tour is due to depart. After the tour we will take you back to your hotel or villa. Q. How do I make a booking? Easy. Just send us an email, call us or speak to your hotel/villa tour desk. Q. What happens if I book a tour and it’s pouring with rain when we want to start? We aim to provide you with the perfect riding experience and for most people that will mean riding in ideal conditions. If it rains and it looks like we have to cancel the ride because of it we will re-schedule at no extra cost. If the re-schedule does not suit your travel plans we will provide refunds. If everyone on the tour is comfortable riding in the rain then we go. Q. What kind of clothes should I bring? Bali is a tropical island that sits just 8 degrees south of the equator and year round temperatures are pretty consistently hot! We recommend a light jacket or long sleeved shirt (more to stop sun burn than anything else), jeans, riding boots and gloves. Many of our customers prefer to ride in t-shirts and if this is how you would like to ride in a tropical island paradise, who are we to spoil your fun! But pack plenty of sun cream because you will catch the sun, even when it’s cloudy. We insist on jeans or riding trousers and riding boots. There is always a chance of rain and wet weather gear is recommended especially on some runs into the mountains. Q. How many people are in a group? Island Biker runs are limited to 6 riders (max.) per group plus a tour guide. Each ride will be accompanied by a support vehicle. There will be occasions where local riders will also join a run but this will not interfere with the scheduled day’s riding. We will take individuals on private runs if they choose. For tours with more riders, like a company incentive or team building tour, we will divide the larger group into smaller groups. Final details will be arranged with you or your company before we reserve the tour. Q. What kind of Custom Tours do you do? Custom Tours are great fun! We basically start with a blank piece of paper and ask you to let us know what you want to do. This can include 7 day inter-island tours to Lombok, Sumbawa, Sumba and Sulawesi ... helicopter flights, deep sea fishing, rounds of golf, 5 star butler service lunches in remote locations, ... all connected by riding a Harley! Just think it and we will try to make it happen. All Custom Tour prices are on request. If you need more information send an email to info@islandbikertours.com and we will get back to you as soon as we can. |
